Most clients choose to have Sophio host their webstore. Clients
that host with Sophio enjoy unlimited disk space, unlimited traffic,
and 24x7x365 monitoring. However, since their site is hosted on a shared server, there will be more frequent hosting related issues due to periodic heavy traffic and more frequent maintenance issues. To remedy this, we are happy to install our software on a clients dedicated WINDOWS server for a fee.
Besides the obvious benefits of having your own physical server, here are some that may not be apparent. Your own unique IP address (good for SEO)
- Your own SSL certificate (good for branding)
- Ability to change the character set for foreign languages
- Unlimited webstores without additional monthly fee's (save $50 per month per store)
- Get 100% of the bandwidth and speed available without sharing with other clients
- Freedom to host or store content for other sites
- SEO capabilities using tools such as ISAPIREWRITE
Sophio Software requires a Windows Web Server with at least 2g of ram and 2 physical hard drives. The two hard drives should be at least 120g in capacity. If you plan to host many webstores and you expect a large amount of traffic then the bigger the drives the better..
We recommend getting a dedicated server at 1and1.com. You must get a WINDOWS server with at least two hard drives and 2gigs of ram. If you plan to sell $100,000 per month or more your server should cost more than your car payment - so don't be frugle here. The more you spend the faster your site will be and the longer it will be before you outgrow it. Lastly, the setup of a dedicated server is a billable expense which requires at least seven days for us to schedule the install.
